On Thursday 25th July 2019, Riverside Surgery will be upgrading to a new clinical system. The new system is provided by the largest supplier of GP computer software in the country and this change should greatly improve our practice efficiency.
To facilitate this change in system, our current online services at http://www.patient-services.co.uk will be suspended on 16th July 2019.
A new online system called Patient Access will be available for you to use and we will provide information on how to do this via email once the upgrade is complete. You will be able to access the new online service from Monday 5th August 2019.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and do ask that you be patient with us at this time, as we move to a faster, better and more efficient computerised clinical system.
APPOINTMENTS – During the down time All Appointments will be “On The Day Appointments Only” which means you will have to call in the morning to book the appointment. On 25th July 2019 the Telephone Lines and Reception Desk will open at 10:00am.
Appointments can be booked in the following ways:
1. In Person
2. By Telephone
3. Online via the Practice Website (www.theriversidesurgery.co.uk) or via NHS Online Bexley App or via myGP App. More information on the NHS Online Bexley App can be found at: http://www.bexleyccg.nhs.uk/Your-Services/nhs-online-bexley.htm
When you contact the surgery to book an appointment, the reception team member will ask you for the reason for your consultation. Please don’t take exception to this, the receptionist is not trying to invade your privacy but only trying to make the earliest appointment they can by better sign posting you to the clinician who can address your concern promptly.
If your appointment does not need the attention of a Doctor perhaps one of the Nurse Practitioners or even one of the Nurses could see you earlier.
If you prefer not to say the reason for your visit, that’s OK. Just tell the receptionist that it’s either private or personal and they will make the required appointment.
Consultations are for a duration of 10 minutes for a single problem. If you need a longer appointment, please advise the Receptionist at the time of booking. Clinics run every morning and afternoon 5 days a week at Pier Road and Mill Road.
Always arrive on time for your appointment. Please remember a separate appointment is necessary for each member of the family wishing to see a Doctor or Nurse. Children under 16 years should be accompanied by an adult.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please telephone the Surgery as soon as possible to allow the appointment to be used for another patient.
These can be booked up to one week in advance. If you wish to see a particular doctor please state this when making the appointment to avoid disappointment.
During busier times phone 01322 332455 (Mill Road Branch) for Appointments at Erith Health Centre the receptionist will book you an appointment for Erith Health Centre.
Please contact the surgery first thing in the morning so we may fit you in during the day for a face-to-face or telephone appointment.
Late Evening Appointments
These are offered across both our sites: Mondays and Wednesdays at Erith Health Centre; Fridays at Mill Road Branch. These are only offered on a pre-booked basis. Please call 01322 330283 or 01322 332455 before 6:00pm to book these appointments.
Weekday Evening and Weekend Appointments at the GP Hubs
Patients can now benefit from an appointment with a GP on a weekday evening, weekends and bank holidays at two GP hubs located at Erith Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital.
Please note that this is not a walk-in service. Patients will need to pre-book an appointment via the GP Practice Reception.
More information on the GP Hub can be found at:
Home Visits / House Calls
A request needs to be made before 10:00am. This request is initially taken by a member of the reception team, they will ask the reason for your request as this information enables the Doctor to plan their calls and allow urgent visits to be dealt with promptly.
The Home Visit request message will be passed onto the GP/NP on duty, who will then call you and assess whether a Home Visit is eminent.
Please do not call the doctor out unless the patient is genuinely too ill to come to the surgery.
This can be done via our website (www.theriversidesurgery.co.uk). Our eConsult service lets you:
- Request advice and treatment from our practice online
- Get self-help advice for hundreds of common conditions
- Request sick notes
- Request other types of Administrative help e.g. Letters to third party; Copies of Investigations or Hospital Letters etc.
You don't always need an appointment with your Doctor for advice on coughs, colds, and other minor health problems; you can speak to the Duty Doctor over the phone. If the Duty Doctor feels that you need to have a face to face consultation the Doctor will arrange that.
The Duty Doctor will take telephone triage consultations on the following weekdays: Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri
All you have to do is to leave details of your concern(s) and a contact telephone number with reception and the Duty Doctor will return your call.
